The Leah Durrant Hair Salon Hosts Charity Evening for St. Peter’s Hospital

On Wednesday 7th November, the Leah Durrant hair salon in Chertsey, celebrated their second birthday and held a fundraising event to bring awareness to the Early Births Fund which is the local charity for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey. The salon raised almost £300 on the evening.

A charity close to Leah Durrant customers, Managing Director Leah Butler personally became very familiar with the local charity through a client of hers at the salon. Leah’s client was travelling long distance each day to be with her baby at the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Leah who has two children herself could relate to this charity and wanted to show her support for the worthy local charity, based within the same community. On the evening, another client from the salon was there to support the event because her little girl was cared for by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Peter’s Hospital when she was born; her little girl is a year old now.

The Early Births Fund was set up by a team of doctors, nurses, parents and support staff and is part of the Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals Charitable Trust with the specific aim of supporting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Over the years, the care of babies born very early, or with unexpected problems, has improved immensely, with great improvements in survival and outlook. This work is increasingly specialised and requires dedicated teams of highly trained nurses and doctors, available at all times. This hospital is the only one in Surrey with the appropriate staff, equipment, skills and experience to provide this highest level of intensive care for the smallest and sickest new born babies.

“The evening was a huge success and I’m so pleased we were able help raise money for such a fantastic local charity. I want to say a big thank you to everyone who came and supported the event,” say’s Leah Butler, Managing Director at the Leah Durrant hair salon.

On the salon evening, guests were welcomed by the Leah Durrant team of stylists who provided expert styling tips, scalp and hand massages, gave winter hair advice, and launched the new Paul Mitchell ‘the wash house’ hair treatments. Local flower shop, House of Flowers, also helped support the event by providing flower arranging advice. The salon also held a raffle prize draw offering a host of gifts from a Year’s Hairdressing at Leah Durrant, Dinner for 2 at Pizza Express, beauty voucher for Riverbourne gym, a voucher to Curves Gym, a Thorpe Park family day ticket, a voucher for the Spring Medical and Laser Clinic, to a Hamper of Paul Mitchell hair products to help raise money. Guests were served with canapés and refreshments. Complimentary goody bags were gifted to all guests.
